Abstract
The contribution deals with a distinctive theological understanding of play as portrayed by Jűrgen Moltmann in the early 70's of the twentieth century. It depicts Moltmann's concept of play bridging traditional theological and socio-political polarities.
Observation is made that Moltmann's approach appears to be relevant even in contemporary context and suggests directions along which his thoughts might be further developed.
