Abstract
In the Book of Revelation (Chapter 20) we read the text that is a basis of the doctrine of the Thousand-Year Reign of Christ. At first the Bishop of Hippo held this teaching.
His sermon (Sermon 259) demonstrates that he was expecting the sabbatical millennium. However, in his writing De civitate Dei he is already rejecting chiliasm.
