This poster presents a pilot study of a qualitative research project focused on children's musical creativity and optimal possibilities of its development within the context of formal school education in the United Kingdom. The research offers insight into teachers' emphasis to develop creativity directly and indirectly and other factors which connect to creativity such as institutional context, teacher training, musical and pedagogical skills.

The study discovers which creative tools and methods are used by teachers directly, how is the classroom environment and equipment prepared to support children's musical creativity indirectly and how do other factors such as teacher training, institutional context, musical and pedagogical skills influence the development of children's musical skills. For collecting data, the method of face to face interview and snowball sampling method is used.

The semi-structured interviews take place at York primary schools with music teachers of 5 and 6-year-old children. The presented pilot study is contained in 7 in-depth interviews.
