Otorhinolaryngology has a wide range of subjective and objective examination methods for examining the hearing of adult pacients. The validity of subjective investigative methods (methods dependent on patient collaboration) is high in adult patients.
The dicline in validity here occurs basically only in the case of the patient's intentional misguided co-operation. In child patients, there is another variable in the ability of collaboration depending on the age of the patient.
This article summarizes the existing investigative possibilities and ůtheir extension through the introduction of the Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) method. This method contributes not only to diagnosis but also to the assessment of the results of treatment of hearing disorders.
