Abstract
The paper focuses on human sacrifice as it is described in the books of Tanakh and its comparison with the archeological evidences discovered in the regions of Israel and whole Syropalestine. The article tries to describe the human sacrifice in this area and define its role in the Old Testament narrative where it can work as a symbolic expression of ideolo-gy that makes the Lord the supreme god which is completely different from the gods of surrounding cults.
