Expanding possibilities of rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis treatment

2018

Abstract

The spectrum of therapeutic procedures for rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis has been significantly expanded and therapeutic principles (treatment to target) have also been optimized. Hierarchical treatment procedures have been developed in the recommendations of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR).

The real goal of therapy is currently to achieve sustained remission of the disease as a condition of minimizing the impact of diseases on the quality of life of patients. Biosimilar preparations reduce the economic demands of biological treatment.

Knowing the mechanisms that may be the target of treatment provides additional options for finding more effective and safer treatments. It is encouraging that there are a number of new, especially biological and targeted synthetic disease modifying substances in clinical trials.
