Chapters on differential diagnostics in gynecology and obstetrics

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2018

Abstract

Chapters on differential diagnostics in gynecology and obstetrics - after 45 years, a new manual of differential diagnostics in gynecology, accompanied with some differential diagnostic problems in obstetrics becomes available. The gynecological section contains chapters given to the diagnostic procedure of female subjective symptoms (vulvovaginal discomfort, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, menstrual cycle disorders, hirsutism, sterility, sexual dysfunction, mammary discomfort) and chapters with further diagnostic procedure based on objective results (findings at vulva or uterine cervix, polycystic ovary syndrome, uterine myoma, uterine prolapse, ovarian tumors).

Special chapters describe endoscopic methods (hysteroscopy, laparoscopy) in gynecological differential diagnostics. An overview on the classification of gynecological tumors is attached.

The obstetrics section introduces differential diagnostics in obstetrics, focusing on diagnostic problems associated with the diagnosis of pregnancy and so-called uncertain signs of pregnancy, and describes physiological changes in pregnancy and specific pregnancy symptoms and complications, including their diagnosis. Chapters dedicated to parturition give the evaluation of cardiotocographic curves and the classification and diagnosis of intrapartum fetal hypoxia.

The final chapter draws attention to the specifics of the diagnosis in the puerperium. The publication is intended primarily for gynecologists who already know the basics of systematic gynecology and obstetrics, but it can also be useful for doctors of other disciplines who face some of these symptoms (pelvic pain, breast discomfort, sexual dysfunction, etc.) in pregnant or puerperal patients.
