Abstract

According to current knowledge we can divide ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal tumors into two groups which differ both in origin and biological behavior. STIC - serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma is a plausible precursor of the second group - extrauterine pelvic serous carcinomas.

Recent data on the etiopathogenesis of these tumors put new demands on diagnostics, but also opens up new possibilities for selective screening of high-risk patients and also for targeted surgical and oncological treatment.
