Abstract

The book specializes the topic from the field of rheumatology in depth describes the diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. Ankylosing spondylitis (AS), also know as Bechterew's disease, is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting spine and sacroiliac joints.

Similar clinical manifestations called as axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) may appear in the early phases in this disorde. The book consists of two parts.

The first one is a professional section, which describes the causes, incidence, course, symptoms and diagnostics of disease. Both, pharmacological and nonpharmacological options are included in the therapeutic interventions.

The pharmacological therapy consists of the administrations of the therapeutic preparations such as non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs and disease-modyfying drugs including biological therapy. The book describes complex nonpharmacological treatment.

The basic component of the nonpharmacological interventions is a therapeutic rehabilitation, which includes physiotherapy, ergotherapy and regimen measures. The second section of the book is practical, describes educational and physiotherapeutic methods and gives examples of exercises, it can also used by physiotherapist'in their practice.
