The text explore the work of eleven authors from the contemporary Czech literary scene: Jan Němec, Michal Viewegh, Jaroslav Rudiš, Kateřina Tučková, Václav Kahuda, Marek Vácha, Karol Sidon, Miloš Urban, Jiří Hájíček, Marek Šindelka and Oldřich Janota. Their focus is on each writer's interest in the theme of transcendence, an interest which even in those authors who belong to a particular confession - such as Vácha and Sidon - rarely has much to do with the predetermined categories of any particular religious system.
The common theme of the human lived experience, especially its relational dimension, opens the possibility of a fruitful encounter between the worlds of theology and art.
