Health workers are exposed to large amount of mental stress every day resulting from personal experiences with extremely stressful events.The Professional Quality of Life questionnaire is abroad one of the frequently used benchmarks for assessing the quality of working life in assisting professions. Questionnaire evaluates the quality of working life based on the assessment of aspects of positive feelings experienced by helping others and aspects of negative feelings which indicates exhaustion based on a great emotional bond to patients and their families.
The article describes the process of linguistic validation of the Czech and Slovak versions of this questionnaire and also presents planned international study. After consent of authors, the ProQOL questionnaire was translated using the "Translation / Back Translation" method and the "Focus Group Translation" method.
The final version of the translation was subjected to concurrent and content validiation with bilingual healthcare respondents. After the translation was finalized, the Pre-test was conducted by the form of cognitive interviews to assess the formulation and the comprehensibility of the items.
The final forms of translations are now ready for a large internationalsurvey of nurses and a comparison of the results obtained after approval by the authors. The international survey will be held in January 2019 in hospitals in the Czech and Slovak Republic
