Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2018

Abstract

Worldwide, TB is the most common opportunistic infection affecting HIV-positive individuals, and it remains the most frequent cause of death for patients with AIDS. HIV/TB co-infection generates lethal combination (the "cursed duet").

Acquired immunodeficiency leads to a rapid development of tuberculosis, complicates its treatment and diagnostics. We introduce the case report of HIV positive patient who has been in the care of the HIV ambulance of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine of the FN and LFUK in Pilsen since 2004.
