Transcription of the German Grapheme "sz" in Czech. A new German Grapheme

Abstract

The article summarizes problems with transcribing sz (ß) into Czech and, according to the German and Swiss norms; it provides insights that can be applied in the Czech editorial practice. The author also comments on the introduction of a new German grapheme for majuscular SZ, "ẞ" (Unicode U+1E9E) in 2017.
