Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease with a wide range of manifestations. It can affect almost all organ systems, so the clinical picture of this disease is very variable.

To determine the diagnosis we use the SLICC classification criteria (The Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinic), which are based on the clinical picture, laboratory, and immunological results and other additional methods. The monitoring and treatment of patients are based on the interdisciplinary cooperation of specialists with the coordination of a rheumatologist.

The aim of this article is to summarize the most common manifestations and diagnostic methods associated with this disease.
