Johannine Theology of Light in Orthodox Theology and Spirituality: From St Gregory Palamas to 20th and 21st Century Orthodoxy in the West

Abstract

This lecture focuses on two themes from John's Prologue, the light and the incarnation. It explores how they feature in the theology of St Gregory of Palamas, and how his interpretation impacts on 1) Vladimir Lossky and Archimandrite Sophrony (Sakharov), and 2) Fr Sergius Bulgakov and Mother Maria Skobtsova.
