The Visual Memory and Attention of Children and Pupils with Hearing Impairment

The paper presents results of the research project aimed at monitoring visual memory and attention of children with hearing disabilities of younger school age. Research method: Four subtests aimed at detecting the state of visual memory and attention which were parts of two standardized tests.

The obtained data were analyzed and compared with the results of the sample of the hearing population of the same age cohort. Conclusions: The findings demonstrate lower level of visual memory and attention of children with hearing impairment despite compensation mechanism applied.

These findings are significant for the inclusive education of pupils with hearing impairment.
