Abstract
This chapter focuses on history of Stalinism and the project of new man. It analyses discussions about intimacy and sexuality in the early 1950s as an integral feature of the project of new man.
In this respect it revises interpretations of reform communists who spoke about Stalinist orthodoxy and conservatism.
