The paper presented the main aims of TAČR (Technology Agency of the Czech Republic) research project Key literacy skills of primary school pupils and its diagnostic instruments, that are being standardized for the use in school counselling facilities and school counselling centres. Unlike other diagnostic tools in the field of reading literacy the new diagnostic tools are focused on the linguistic background of literacy.
Therefore, they also contain new approaches to diagnostics of language awareness, phonemic awareness and comprehension - both linguistic and reading comprehension (in oral and silent reading mode). Comprehensive battery is complemented by questionnaires for possible revelations of negatives environmental influences that can hinder the development of reading literacy of pupils in younger school age.
