Nazi urbanism in Central European capitals as reflected in literature (Warsaw, Vienna, Prague)

Abstract

In urban history research on National Socialism, urban planning and the architectural-historical perspective occupy an important position, as they deal with the planned and partially implemented visualization of the National Socialist ideology in the public space of the respective city and - ideally - with the respective continuities and breaks between the various regimes. Especially since the late 1970s, different analytical insights into the construction and planning activities of the National Socialists in the cities of the German Reich and the occupied territories have been published.

Finally, in recent years, the National Socialist plans for Prague and Vienna have also been revisited.
