Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2014

Abstract

The contribution has a primarily reconstructive character. In it, an attempt is made to explain the relation between truth, language and poetry in Gadamer's philosophy. - The study begins with an outline of the central ideas of Gadamer's main work, Truth and Method.

After that, the focus is on the immanent concept of truth and this is explained in its relationship to art, history and language. In a further chapter, Gadamer's view of the truth experience in poetry is to be explained in terms of writings after 1960 and the difference to Truth and Method worked out.

Finally, the question of the relevance of Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics is considered.
