Reception of Petru Cimpoeșu's novels in the Czech Republic

Petru Cimpoeșu (1952) is a Romanian writer. He began writing short stories with postmodern humor in 1980s.

In 1990s, he published several novels. Cimpoeșu became more famous at the beginning of new millennium thanks to his novel Simion liftnicul.

Roman cu îngeri și moldovenii (Simion the Liftite: A Novel with Angels and Moldavians), awarded the prize for prose by Writers' Union of Romania. Translation of this novel in the Czech language was declared "Book of the year 2006" in frame of most prestigious awards for literature in the Czech republic.

After this success above mentioned novel was translated in other European languages and nowadays Petru Cimpoeșu is considered one of the best Romanian writers.
