Abstract
Translation of Havel's play "Vyrozumění" into Latvian has prompted Michal Škrabal to discuss the problem of word-formation in the present political and media discourse. The author characterizes the tools of linguistic appropriation bearing upon the formation of ideological semantization and the appearance of "new language".
The author discusses the synthetic language ptydepe - Havel's neologism denoting the absurd bureaucratic language, lingering on even after the collapse of the communist regime.
