The article Trpký argentinský úděl uherskobrodského dominikána Zdislava Luskače (Bitter Argentinian deal of Dominican Zdislav Luskač of Uherský Brod) focuses on the missionary work of the mentioned Czech priest in Argentina between 1923 and 1925. He was a part of the catholic programme to strengthen the identity of the Czechoslovak minority in Argentina.
The main intention is to present the personality of Zdislav Luskač, because his personal traits were the main reason why his goals were never fulfilled, as the title suggests. His stubborn religious nature along with his poor health condition prevented him from becoming an important figure of the Czechoslovak exile community in Buenos Aires.
He struggled to obtain the trust of the Czech government diplomats, middle class as well as progressive groups. Nevertheless, in his writings, he, at least, presents us with much valuable information regarding the situation of his fellow citizens and their lives in the Interwar period in Argentina.
The contribution is based on the archive material from Moravian Land Archive in Brno, especially the fund of the Dominican Order convent in Uherský Brod. Also, Zdislav Luskač's correspondence printed in several newspapers and magazines is used as well as specialized literature about Immigration to Argentina to present a broader context of his mission in Buenos Aires.
