Arthroscopy of the elbow joint - anatomical approach

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2006

Abstract

Arthroscopy of the elbow is one of the special mini-invasive surgical means of diagnostics and treatment in cases when various intraarticular disorders appear; this method accounts for about 5 per cent of all arthoscopies perfomed. Arthroscopy of the elbow is used esp for the diagnostics and treatment of chondropathy, osteochondritis dissecans, traumatic and posttraumatic lesions.

Although arthroscopy of the elbow has become a routine surgical technique, there is great potential for using it as a highly specialized reconstructive endoscopic procedure in most complicated cases. For this purpose, it is essential for the surgeon to gain adequate practice with the anatomic arthroscopic approaches to this joint.
