Once Nore on the Christianization of Rus': between Christian East and Latin West

Abstract

This paper focuses on the christianisation of Rus' from a somewhat unconventional point of view. It examines the influences of Orthodox East and also Latin Catholic West, in other words of Eastern (Byzantine) Empire, Western Empire and the papacy, on this process.

Fzurthermore, the paper points to a certain parallel between the events that took place around Cyril's and Methodius' mission in Moravia, the adoption of christianity of Bulgaria, and also a century later in Rus'.
