Abstrakt
Rather than on the characters themselves Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar concentrates on political success and the way private and public spheres intertwine. Incorporating ideas existing in England at the time the play was written, the play deals with the idea of tyranny and political ambition.
Questioning Brutus' attitude towards the assassination, it reveals the way the conspiracy was understood in Shakespeare's time and to what extent it was relevant to the English Renaissance politics.
