The article addresses three issues. Firstly, the author presents the most recent research, in particular the one done by Sheilagh Ogilvie (Cambridge), which discusses the term of 'second serfdom' in Bohemia.
Next, the author analyses Bohemian sources connected with the terms 'serfdom' and subjection. The third part deals with the actual social-economic relations on the example of the South Bohemian dominions of Wittingau (Třeboň, Pol.
Trzeboń) and Frauenberg (Hluboká nad Vltavou) after 1650. In this period the traces of 'second serfdom' are no longer to be found.
