Czech Database of Audiovisual Stimuli: Subjective responses to emotion eliciting films

Abstract

This poster addresses the lack of validated audiovisual emotional stimuli for the Czech population. The use of film scenes is one of the most effective methods for evoking emotions.

Therefore, a database of 92 film scenes was created, in which participants (n = 107; 69 % women, age average = 21.6) subjectively described their feelings. The revised version of the DES (Differential Emotions Scale) was used for classification of the feelings and, based on the previous measurement phase, the following feelings were added: sympathy, confusion, pain, boredom, feeling of transcendence, and sexual arousal.

DES thus included 24 emotion categories. Each participant watched and rated 15 film scenes.

The poster includes results for the selected film scenes.
