Abstract
Günther Beck was a professor at the Institute of Botany at the German University in Prague (1899-1920). To this day we can find a large amount of visual material connected with his name in the collections of the Prague herbarium.
Several examples are presented as an illustration to the paper dealing with these visual sources and the circumstances of their origin (Živa 2018, 2: XXXI-XXXVII). Based on this analysis, the contribution also shows the meaning of illustration in contemporary education and science
