In recent years, the education of elderly and older adults has undergone a major transformation. Progressive technology, as well as the transformation of social, economic, political and cultural determinants of life, result in increased demands on the knowledge and skills of each member of society.
More emphasis is therefore placed on the need for learning and education even in older age. An important role in this sphere is played by universities of the third age, which became a symbol of senior education for both lay and professional public.
The article deals with the reality of universities of the third age in the Czech Republic. Attention is also paid to reflecting the impact of U3V activities on the motivation and expectations of the participants.
Potential overlaps will also be discussed to develop the competences of participating lecturers.
