The author uses the Gospel story of Doubting Thomas as the basis for his fourteen essays. Christian faith calls upon us to have the courage to see the wounds of our world and to touch them with faith, a faith which is itself marked and wounded by that touch.
Only face to face with a wounded God can a person lay down his armour, masks, and make-up which he uses to hide his wounds from others and sometimes even from his own self. The book contains both theological-philosophical meditations on the mystic depths of faith as well as surprising, trenchant and even humorous commentary on the times we live in.
The author finds inspiration in Christian as well as Jewish mysticism, Paul's and Luther's theology of the cross, current postmodern philosophy and theology as well as in treasures of old folk Easter art, and last but not least, the author's own experiences from his many years of therapeutic and pastoral work.
