Even though the authors clearly agree with the need to study territories diverging from the traditionally accepted understanding of sovereignty, they find several empirical and conceptual problems with this particular term.
The text presents a critique of some of the important aspects of the PITs. The presented response to the previous research aims to highlight the most problematic issues and help further develop and clarify our understanding of the partial independence.
