Zuzana Svobodová's article "Comenius' Theology of Education and the Birth of Czech Philosophy of Education" is dedicated to Radim Palouš and Jaroslava Pešková, who introduced Philosophy of Education at Charles University as a postgraduate field of study in 1997. By doing so, they had followed up on the work of their teacher, Jan Patočka.
In his work, Patočka reflected upon Comenius' stance on the eminent position of education in a person's life, if he/she is to become a genuinely human person. Comenius' view of the inseparability of religion, politics, and philosophy as res humanae is grounded in a theocentric worldview.
Thus, from its very outset, Czech Philosophy of Education has been shaped in conjunction with Theology of Education.
