Reasoning and Problem Solving as a Way of Verification Educational Objectives

Abstract

Chemistry as a subject is difficult for secondary schools' students who are often introduced to many facts and theories but they do not understand the principles of the phenomena, and they are not able to apply the theories to everyday life problems. This is why it is very important to bring the teaching of chemistry to practical life.

One of the possibilities is to present the reality via excursion. After completing the excursion, it is important to make feedback and analyse whether students have learned the knowledge and whether the educational objectives of the excursion has been achieved.

In order to verify this, we have prepared a set of tasks which are primarily focused on reasoning and problem solving and we have tracked the students' success rate while solving them in relation to the realized excursion.
