Horizons of Cognitive-Cultural Linguistics. Metaphors, stereotypes and cultural richness of languages as worldviews

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty, Faculty of Arts |
2018

Abstract

Following on the book Horizons of Cognitive-Cultural Linguistics. Schemes and stereotypes in spoken and sign languages (2017), the authors exhibit three topics: metaphor, stereotype, and cultural relativity of languages.

Apart from Czech, other languages, such as English, Japanese, Biblical Hebrew, or the Czech Sign Language, are also being explored. The chapters focus on culturally exposed concepts, associated with human physical experience, as well as sociality and existentialism.
