Sun temple of Nyuserre in Abu Ghurab : Report of the 2017 season

Abstract

The article presents results of the 2017 archaeological season in the sun temple of Nyuserre in Abu Ghurab. Works focused the central obelisk, the alabaster altar, and the accumulation of limestone blocks in the south-western corner of the Upper Temple.

Besides the standard documentation of these remains, an architectural analysis of these structures, the 3D computer reconstruction of the obelisk and the altar area, the analysis of data coming from satellite remote sensing as well as the archaeological survey of the area in the temple itself and in its outside areas were done.
