Abstract

The current chemistry education solves problems related primarily to the setting of the curriculum contents, which will be professionally correct, appropriately extensive, and at the same time connected with current aspects of life in modern society, and to problems of teaching strategies that would stimulate the students into interest in science and commitment to it. Therefore, our goal is to create and verify an interactive chemistry course with adequate content for lower secondary schools (ISCED2) based on the characteristics of interactive, ICT-connected education; this course will be implemented through an educational website.

The first part of the contribution describes selected methods of interactive chemistry teaching supporting increase of the students' cognitive activity and the effectiveness of the learning process using ICT. The second part characterizes the chemistry course thus created and lists various ways to apply interactive teaching in it.

The course website will gradually undergo pilot verification in the school practice, to be eventually finalized for use in chemistry teaching at lower secondary schools.
