Abstract

We are often facing a lack of illustrative visualization for the fundamental term vector in secondary school education. Due to the time limitation, we are starting equations usage too early and as a result, pupils are using only memorized algorithms without any background understanding.

We are searching for the possibilities of minimization such negative approaches in project OP VVV Enhancing the quality of education, developing key competences, areas of education and literacy. This article provides the current situation description and introduces a set of tasks created by ourselves.

The tasks are intended for secondary school pupils, focused on work with Cartesian coordinate system and joining various parts of mathematics. Moreover, we are analysing the solving approach of several classes from both six-year and four-year grammar school pupils.

Finally, a surprising result that the younger pupils have been more successful than their older colleagues is presented.
