Current challenges in the field of literacy and preliteracy in the Czech Republic

Abstract

The keynote lecture dealt with the current trends in the development of reading literacy. The authors introduced teaching methods of reading used in our schools, the didactic aspects of reading development and reading, and the psychological principals of reading skills development - from the point of view of reading prerequisites, decoding, and reading comprehension.

The lecture also informed about the research and application projects currently being solved at the Faculty of Education, Charles University.
