Competence between the musit and musit forms in the journal Naše řeč articles

Abstract

The paper summarises the results of the inquiry into the competence of two morphological variants (musit and muset) in the articles published in the Naše řeč journal. We came to the conclusion that this competence was time-bound: between 1917 and 1948 was musit the prevailing form, between 1949 and 1958 there was a fifty-fifty occurrence of both forms and since 1959 gradually the muset form became the prevailing form.

We detected the same development in the Slovo and slovesnost journal, too.
