Abstrakt
While the European theatre in the 1990s witnessed a lively discussion about new drama as a contemporary phenomenon, in Slovakia the term was just starting to replace what was known as "original drama" - a sad and sickly orphan produced on the stages of Slovak bricks-and-mortar theatres. Slovak writers of this period were a generational mix, mostly solitary and only of local prominence.
