Seniors' education as an element of the healthy life style

Abstract

Background: Social contacts among coevals as well as with young generation, long life education and health are very important for healthy life style. Crucial role in this context in the Czech Republic play University of Third Age (U3A).

They are organized within universities and faculties and every year there is a huge influx of auditors. There is no strict limitation about the age but normally auditorium is consisted of people elder then 50 years.

U3A offer high-quality use of one's own time, support mental and physical freshness, activation and make available new knowledge and skill by appropriate form. In the academic year 2015 / 2016 more than 50 thousands of seniors attended U3A in the Czech Republic.

Our research focuses on the analysis of the educational offer for seniors in the Czech Republic public universities. Goal and methodology: Goal of the seniors 'education.

Situation of seniors 'education nowadays. Financing of U3A.

The state of the educational programmes for U3A in the Czech Republic was analysed as a quantitative research, questionnaire technique, which included 11 questions (4 dichotomic, 3 trichotomic, 2 enumerative, 2 open questions). The research was carried out in the period from November 2017 to December 2017.

Results: Results of the research were structured this way: Using of the ICT, resp. SMART technologies in the Czech Republic and in the University of Ostrava, Faculty of Science in more details, Arrangements for inclusive educational environment based on the experience from given institution, Involvement of the youth into seniors 'education (intergeneration dialogue and Active approach of seniors (seniors as lectors, organizers, etc.) Conclusion: Seniors'education as a part of long life education is very important for healthy life style, mental balance of seniors.

Seniors can obtain information about human care and other which can contribute to their own care.
