Abstract

This study aimed at testing the activity of two flavonoid microbial metabolites (4-methylcatechol and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid), which can mediate the vasorelaxant effect of orally administered flavonoids. Both metabolites caused a decrease in arterial blood pressure in vivo in rats, their mechanism of action ex vivo was tested.
