The study deals with the image of the approximately first half of the Thirty Years War in the - mostly handwritten - sources of the urban provenance. It analyses paralelly the chronicle writings of the Upper-Lusatian towns Lauban and Zittau and compares it with the newest methodological approaches above of the german origins.
It focuses on following topics: the perception of the events in Bohemia (uprising of estates), the perception of the war, eschatological atmosphere, the coexistence of the burghers and soldats, religious differences.
