Demotivating circumstances leading to drop out from sport of talented youth

Abstract

This article presents results of the study about problem of drop out talented youth from sport. This often occurring phenomenon in sports is related to the occurrence of demotivational circumstances, the nature of which was identified by this pilot study.

To identify the motivational and demotivational factors leading to the change of adolescent's lifestyle, there were used the qualitative methods of research, namely interpretative phenomenological analysis and multiple case study. Athletes most often identified as factors that led to drop out from sport: the trainer's profile and his / her training methodology / characteristic of training; too much time consumig; the impossibility of reconciling the requirements of sport with school / job requirements.
