Abstract
The presumptive meaning represents another level of the complex sentence meaning (between sentence-type meaning and utterance-token meaning) based on speaker's inference. It is described as an utterance-type meaning (preferred, default, presumptive interpretation) based on the generalized conversational implicature and submaxims derived from it.
