Abstract

In 1858, the authenticity of the so-called Manuscripts was attacked by the editor-in-chief of the Prague-based daily Tagesbote aus Böhmen David Kuh, for which the Prague police headquarters stood. Václav Hanka was identified as a plagiarist.

On the pressure of Czech patriots, Vaclav Hanka, David Kuh, sued for the prosecution and the court winner. However, Václav Hanka has never regained his peace of mind and David Kuh did not have to go to jail.

Nevertheless, Czech-German relations have been permanently undermined in Bohemia
