Sports injuries and how to prevent them

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2018

Abstract

Athletes' injuries are a frequent cause of the need to interrupt the sporting activity of an individual. They often lead to the end of sports activities if they are not diagnosed and properly treated.

One of the main factors for proper healing is the athlete himself and his closest neighborhoods that he often does not realize, or does not want to realize that untreatment and non-treatment of damage can lead to chronic consequences with an impact on further performance. This publication is intended for the general public and should familiarize them with the most common injuries that an athlete can encounter in sport.

The first part is the most common injury to both limbs, head and spine. The authors first try to simply present the anatomical assumptions about the occurrence of the damage, its causes, the symptoms and the treatment options of the athlete himself, as well as the cases, which should be treated by the doctor.

As important authors, they also consider the section where they indicate the time required to survive the accident, which should be respected for good therapy results. The new revised edition also includes a chapter devoted to the specifics of children with disabilities, which, if not respected, leads to serious life-time difficulties for an individual.

In the next section dedicated to prevention, the authors represent the basic techniques of static tapping, which should help to overcome the damage that has already occurred, but should also be the prevention of damage to others. The new edition introduces kinezotaping techniques as progressive methods currently used in the field of sports traumatology and physiotherapy.

For the successful return of the athlete to the racing activity, rehabilitation is also crucial, so the last part of this book deals with the rehabilitation of individual joints with a recommendation in which the stage after an accident or operation is possible with its use. Because there is currently a significant increase in the difficulty associated with back pain, when frequent monotonic stresses are caused by the spine muscles, the authors have also included chapters dedicated to this problem.

The entire book is intended not only for top athletes and their coaches, but also for the broad sporting public to help make a good sense of sport without unnecessary pain caused by an inappropriate burden.
