Abstract
The book chapter offers an analysis of the concept of a literary text and the notions of meaning, sense, and reference as coined and explored through the course of the 1920s until 1940s within the context of the Prague School structuralism. It covers mainly the development of the concept of a text and its interpretation conceived by Jan Mukarovsky.
