The topic of the event was Reconciliation and Contention. It is an important composition with technically and artistically very demanding piano pieces.
Martinů completed his Double Concert on September 29, 1938, on the day when the Munich Agreement was negotiated. The whole composition is a tragic vision of the upcoming events.
